The Safety Pharmacology department plays an especially influential role in all Abbvie discovery projects by providing both standard in vitro and in vivo cardiovascular and neurobehavioral safety screening as well as fit-for-purpose assay development to aid in critical decision making. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our safety pharmacology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for running, analyzing, and reporting in vivo and ex vivo rodent cardiovascular, neurobehavioral, and gastrointestinal assays as well as assisting senior scientists with projects in a collaborative, team-based setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for learning and implementing new experimental protocols, should be able to apply basic scientific principles to research, and be proficient in basic lab and animal handling techniques (compound dosing, rodent restraint, dilution calculations, etc.).

Requirements

  • BS/BA in biology or related field with up to 3 years of related experience or MS/MA in biology or related field.
  • should be able to apply basic scientific principles to research

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work and contribute within a team
  • Strong critical thinking skills demonstrating ability to troubleshoot testing issues
  • Good time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Fast learner, able to generate and analyze data with little supervision
  • Proficient with Microsoft office for data analysis

Nice To Haves

  • Animal handling and/or surgical skills are preferred
  • Experience with peptides and/or oligo based modalities in an in vitro and/or in vivo setting would be beneficial
