Role Summary The Associate, Risk Governance (the “Associate”) will play an important role in building and maintaining Capitolis’ risk governance infrastructure across the firm. The successful candidate will be an organized, intellectually curious, and collaborative member of the Risk Management team. The role spans model risk management, model risk governance, market risk oversight and controls, compliance, and cross-functional program management — providing meaningful breadth and the opportunity to grow alongside a risk function that is actively building its capabilities. The role is based at Capitolis’ headquarters in Midtown Manhattan and will report to the Model Risk Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; a quantitative concentration is a plus but not required.
  • 0-3 years of experience in risk management, risk governance, model risk, or a related function, ideally at a broker-dealer, bank, or regulated financial institution.
  • Familiarity with model risk concepts and regulatory guidance (e.g., SR 11-7); deep quantitative expertise is not required.
  • Strong organizational and program management skills; able to manage multiple workstreams with competing priorities without losing detail.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical risk concepts into polished governance documentation.
  • Comfort with data and analytical tools; familiarity with Python, R, Excel, or similar is a plus; interest in integrating AI tools into risk workflows is strongly valued.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of broker-dealer regulatory requirements, including SEC net capital rules and margin requirements, is a differentiator.

Responsibilities

  • Support the firm’s risk governance framework, including policies, written supervisory procedures, and documentation across a variety of risk domains.
  • Assist with model risk management activities, including maintenance of the model inventory, vendor relationship management, model risk governance, and maintaining the model risk management framework.
  • Contribute to the production of market risk oversight reports for senior audiences.
  • Help identify and drive risk team initiatives in a program management capacity.
  • Contribute to the design and monitoring of risk controls, including tracking key risk indicators, identifying control gaps, and supporting remediation efforts.
  • Support regulatory deliverables, audit and exam readiness, and periodic governance reviews, including the preparation of board and committee materials.
  • Leverage the team’s use of artificial intelligence and automation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy of risk governance workflows and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
