The Associate Quality Manager will assist in overseeing the quality control and assurance processes to ensure that products meet regulatory, customer, and internal standards. This role supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems, procedures, and processes. The Associate Quality Manager works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure continuous improvement in product quality and compliance with food safety requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or other related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience in food manufacturing or quality may be considered.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in a quality assurance or quality control role, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with food safety management systems, including HACCP, GMPs, and audit protocols.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, food safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Experience writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team.
  • Strong attention to detail with the focus on accuracy and precision.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across department and with external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as HACCP, SQF Practitioner, or PCQI preferred.
  • Experience as a supervisor or team leadership preferred.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing the company’s quality management system (QMS), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as FDA, USDA, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Help manage food safety programs, including HACCP, GMP, and SQF, ensuring proper documentation and procedures are followed across all areas of the facility.
  • Assist in internal and external audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented in response to non-conformances.
  • Work with the quality assurance team to monitor daily activities, ensuring proper testing, sampling, and verification processes are followed.
  • Provide guidance and training to quality team members to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their tasks effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, R&D, Sanitation, and Supply Chain) to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Oversee the monitoring of production lines, ensuring that products meet quality specifications throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Review product test results and recommend improvements to prevent recurring quality issues.
  • Conduct inspections of incoming raw materials and ensure they meet company standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all quality-related activities, including inspection records, test results, and audit findings.
  • Prepare quality reports for senior management and participate in meetings to discuss quality performance and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality and food safety processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and overall operational performance.
  • Use data-driven analysis to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improving quality standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at optimizing quality control procedures and systems.
  • Ensure that products and processes comply with all relevant food safety and quality regulations.
  • Respond to customer complaints or quality-related inquiries, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work closely with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure all products meet the required quality and safety standards.
