About The Position

The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs provides strategic and operational leadership to advance faculty success across all career stages. The role fosters an equitable, collaborative, and data-informed academic culture that values teaching excellence, scholarly and creative activity, and faculty well-being. As the Provost's principal advisor and designee on faculty matters, this position leads key institutional processes related to promotion and tenure, performance evaluation, faculty development, and engagement. The Associate Provost also provides administrative oversight for the Library and the Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation (CTLI), aligning their programs and resources with institutional priorities for teaching, learning, research, and faculty achievement.

Requirements

  • Tenured faculty member (if tenure is available) at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in a discipline aligned with the University's academic programs.
  • Minimum five (5) years of academic administrative leadership experience with at least three (3) years as dean, department chair, faculty senate chair, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated leadership in faculty development and the advancement of student learning.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, operational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated ability to address sensitive issues in a non-confrontational manner.
  • Terminal degree from an accredited institution

Nice To Haves

  • Academic administrative experience at the level of Dean, or higher, with broad knowledge of institutional and faculty affairs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of faculty career progression and institutional structures that support faculty excellence.
  • Experience with systems, such as Watermark Faculty Success, Coursedog, or course evaluation platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of teaching quality frameworks (e.g., Quality Matters) and Boyers Model of Scholarship.
