About The Position

Assist in managing the scope, schedule, budget and safety performance of multiple construction projects and programs. Working closely with project managers, this role monitors progress, manages resources, supports risk and issue resolution, and ensures adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards while serving as a liaison across teams and stakeholders. Ensure, evaluate, and monitor the “quality” process within their area of responsibility, assuring that every aspect of their work and services meet or exceed customer expectations and are consistent with the quality goals of the company. Supports projects working in coordination with a Project Manager. Manages complex and often unique projects requiring application of established project management principles and techniques. Directly accountable to deliver project on time and at or below budget. Key interface for external customer work involving transmission and substation projects including presentation of; billable costs to the customer and negotiating schedules. Collaborate with other project managers, work management, and functional managers to assure optimal utilization of resources. Primary communicator with the project sponsor and key stakeholders on project issues including executive level presentations. Assurance and inspection programs are being adhered to. Review and approve Contractor procedures for adherence to established safe practices. Acquire and manage contract resources by participating in the contractor selection process, prepare contact requisitions, approve change orders and contract payment authorizations and evaluate contractor performance. Acquire zoning variations and permits for large projects by presenting project details to city zoning boards and public hearings. Collaborate with the Construction Management Team to improve current construction standards, practices and procedures for future use. May manage a portion or full portfolio of active projects or annual programs of complex, large scope and budget. Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations. Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services. Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management or related field from an accredited university
  • 2 - 4 years project management or related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience managing projects using project management techniques including the following is preferred: Planning and Control (product /work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, scope control techniques) Issue and Risk Management (identification, assessment and management of project risks including contingency plans) Project Management Tools (methods and techniques for planning, scheduling, resource balancing, monitoring cost) Business Case Development (cost/benefit evaluations including net present value analysis) Progress Reporting (cost/schedule curves, project status report, earned value analysis)
  • Solid Understanding of monitoring, tracking and reporting of project progress updates
  • Knowledgeable about Project baselines and tracking of project progress to baselines for scope, costs and schedules
  • Adaptable to change on a fast pace moving organization
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Resourcing management, Risk Management, Project Management Tools
  • Proficient in handheld GPS usage, GIS, Computers, MS Office and Outlook applications
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization through various means such as email, phone, video conferencing, and in-person
  • Strong ability to develop and deliver effective presentations and facilitate meetings as related to strategy, training, and collaborating with various stakeholders
  • Good in organizational, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, English and Spanish preferred
  • Valid Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with working on Regulated Utilities and managing project interfaces with Regulatory Commission and Independent System Operators, International Aid Agency Interfaces on Large Utility Scale Capital Programs would be an asset
  • Knowledge of applicable Municipal, State and Federal Legislation would be an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) would be considered an asset
