  • Work with program leadership to include the Program Director and other Program/Associate Program Directors, and with the core faculty to ensure the program provides core knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite to the development of the competencies required for successful completion and safe practice at the time of entry into the profession
  • Coordinate with Program Director/Chair to ensure leadership presence during operational days/hours
  • Provide mentoring to new and instructional faculty related to teaching, course coordination and assessment
  • Review and recommend curriculum revisions as needed, including mapping, creation of learning outcomes and instructional objectives related to courses
  • Collaborate with Program Director to update student handbook annually
  • Support the program in meeting accreditation requirements
  • Works with Enrollment Management to oversee admissions for the master’s and certificate programs, and refresher process.
  • Develop individual plans of study for newly admitted students
  • Assign faculty advisors to students
  • Track performance of students during the didactic and clinical phase
  • Provide oversight and guidance to course faculty in the management of students with academic problems
  • Recommend and implement revisions to program policies and procedures related to the program's didactic and clinical curriculum
  • Assist with the development of short- and long-range strategic plans
  • Serves on departmental committees as required
  • Facilitate and ensure open communication, discussion and collaboration within the program and between PD, faculty, students and staff
  • Liaison with other University departments such as Registrar, Enrollment Management, Counseling Services, Health Services etc. as needed
  • Oversee, manage and troubleshoot day-to-day events in the program related to students, - informing or involving the PD as needed
  • Oversees program management and function in Program Directors absence
  • Serves as course faculty. Course load would vary each semester and be dependent on the FTE
  • Serves as an advisor for students in the master’s and certificate programs
  • The Associate Program Director role is a stipend position occupied by a core faculty member who has a minimum of five years teaching experience and leadership responsibilities in a Midwifery program.
  • In addition, the individual should have a minimum of two years clinical practice experience.
  • Faculty must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have demonstrated consistency in: interpersonal, leadership, and management skills.
