About The Position

Responsibilities To assist the Program Director in overseeing and ensuring the quality of didactic and clinical education in all sites that participate in the program; To assist the Program Director in ensuring that the program does not place excessive reliance on residents for service as opposed to education; and, To assist the Program Director in ensuring the residents have the required experience with procedures, diagnostic and therapeutic methods. Supervision. To assist the Program Director in monitoring resident supervision at all participating sites; Evaluations. To assist the Program Director and be chairman of the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) in the progress of the residents through evaluations, observation, and participation; To assist the Program Director and participate in the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) analyzing information related to the design and outcomes of evaluations for the purpose of monitoring and improving the quality and effectiveness of the program. To assist the Program Director in developing, implementing, and assessing the reliability and validity of evaluation methods. Quality Improvement. To assist the Program Director in ensuring that departmental clinical quality improvement programs are integrated into the residency program. To assist the Program Director in monitoring resident duty hours, according to Sponsoring Institutional policies, with a frequency sufficient to ensure compliance with ACGME requirements. To assist the Program Director in adjusting resident schedules as necessary to mitigate excessive service demands and/or fatigue; To assist the Program Director in monitoring the need for and ensure the provision of back up support systems when patient care responsibilities are unusually difficult or prolonged; and, Duty Hours/Learning Environment (continued). To assist the Program Director in monitoring resident stress, including mental or emotional conditions inhibiting performance or learning, and drug or alcohol related dysfunction. To assist Program Director with the selection of candidates, participating in interviews and ranking of applicants. Associate Program Director would be a resource for new resident orientation and mentoring residents throughout their curriculum development. To continue medical education research and scholarly development that would lead to progressive professorial advancement and national recognition in an area of clinical education expertise.

Requirements

  • Must have current certification in the specialty by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians, or possess qualifications judged acceptable to the Review Committee.
