Vitamix is seeking an Associate Product Engineer who will execute the development and implementation of any engineered change whether it is for New Product Development or Sustaining Engineering. This includes, but isn’t limited to, defining internal/external customer needs, developing concepts that meet the needs, vetting concepts through analytical and/or empirical means to propose final solutions to the business, and integrating the solution into manufacturing for launch readiness. Successful candidates will be recent college graduates with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree at an ABET accredited university in Engineering
  • Expert in MS Office, especially Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Broad awareness of 3D CAD tools (CREO preferred) and PLM systems (Windchill preferred)
  • Broad awareness of Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, and Vibration First Principles
  • Critical Thinking - Ability to break down complex information, identify key elements, and assess their validity and relevance.
  • Flexibility - Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities, new information, and diverse situations, while remaining focused on achieving goals.
  • Relationship Building - Ability to establish, maintain, and cultivate positive relationships with individuals, teams, and external stakeholders to foster a collaborative environment
  • Organizational Skills - Effectively manages time, prioritizes tasks, meets deadlines, and maintains systems for achieving goals.
  • Attention to Detail - Consistently maintains high standards of quality and accuracy across different tasks and projects.
  • Ability to sit up to 8 hours per day, with walking and standing required frequently
  • Visual acuity is required to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading documents, reports, and emails
  • Repetitive hand movements for tasks like typing or assembly
  • Up to 10% travel required

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on technical aspects of project designs that satisfy functional, performance, reliability, regulatory and other internal company requirements.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional departments to facilitate the successful execution of projects.
  • Collaborate with both domestic and international suppliers/partners/contract manufacturers to deliver products that are internally developed, co-developed, or sourced.
  • Utilize stage-gate product development framework for New Product Development.
  • Utilize Technical Review processes and tools for engineered changes.
  • Assess and address project technical risks in compliance with appropriate standards and corporate policies.
  • Support requirement generation activities, derived from internal/external customers’ needs.
  • Support derivation of required analytical activities, and testing for Verification and Validation of component/sub-system/system requirements through Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Support root cause analysis for problem solving and implement corrective action strategies based on findings.
