About The Position

Under supervision, the Associate Product Engineer performs technical assignments that support the design, development, qualification, and lifecycle management of LAN cable products. This role contributes to activities involving engineering business systems, supplier qualification, customer specifications, safety, and performance certifications. The Associate Product Engineer assists senior engineers in developing and supporting new and existing products with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvements.

Requirements

  • Understanding of statistical principals, software programming and tools, product development processes, verification and validation techniques.
  • Ability to apply scientific and engineering principles to solve basic technical problems.
  • Ability to convert raw data into useful information through structured analysis.
  • Ability to develop clear technical documents and/or technical presentations.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools, processes, and technologies.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, multicultural team environment. Good written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills (Microsoft Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Applications).
  • Ability to utilize experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to effectively organize individual responsibilities, tasks, and activities for multiple projects.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to organizational goals.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or similar.
  • 0–3 years of engineering experience; engineering internship experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Support and eventually lead Product Engineering departmental activities, including but not limited to the creation and modification of engineering business systems, product costing, purchase specifications, cable experiments, LAN & Automation cable test and measurement, and agency safety approvals.
  • Contribute to qualification testing with suppliers and work to provide high performing, cost effective solutions.
  • Under supervision, work closely with customers to establish performance goals and ensure the products will meet their expectations.
  • Contribute to bids/RFQs by creating tools, test reports, and specification sheets that provide a competitive advantage to our sales and marketing team.
  • Support the manufacture of cable prototypes by developing and maintaining a functional knowledge of LAN cable manufacturing practices/techniques while gaining an understanding of their effect on physical and electrical performance parameters.
  • Participate in project teams and fulfill responsibilities as defined by project definition or team consensus.
  • Support the Product Engineering ISO 9001 Product Life Cycle requirements by following documented procedures and processes as well as sharing in the creation and maintenance of departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
