The Product Development Associate supports the product development process from initial design concept through production focusing on brands like GUESS Kids. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely production of samples that meet both aesthetic and customer requirements. Additionally, the associate collaborates with the cross functional teams that include Production, Design, Sales, and our Overseas Offices to develop and execute assigned product lines. The Product Development Associate will help to facilitate the development process for the Kids Sportswear Division.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of the entire Product Development cycle and all milestones
  • Working knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques and seam classifications
  • Technical knowledge of fabric qualities, finishes, printing and art embellishments for all product categories
  • Understanding of Child Safety Guidelines
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; highly detail oriented, meticulous and creative
  • Proficient in FlexPLM, Microsoft Office, knowledge of Adobe Illustrator a plus
  • Superior organizational and communication skills; team oriented
  • Ability to work in a fast pace, high performance environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability
  • Bachelor’s degree, Product Development major preferred
  • 3+ years of product development or relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and maintaining seasonal approval charts
  • Communicating with overseas vendors on product submissions including lab dips, strike offs, sales samples and pre-production samples.
  • Ensuring quality and integrity of the brands are maintained to standard.
  • Collaborate with Design teams and Technical Designers to ensure garment constructions, design details, and art placement are met to the design concept at fit stage.
  • Partner with Design, Production, and Sales team to ensure that development stays on schedule per design calendar.
  • Evaluate initial tech packs through PLM with the Design team, ensuring all details are executable by factories.
  • Schedule proto review meetings with the Design team to review all garment constructions, design details, and art placement ensuring the actual garment reflects the designer’s vision.
  • Catalog and maintain fabric, print and trim standard libraries for future references.
