About The Position

The Associate Process Engineer will be a detail-oriented, reliable, and creative team player responsible for leading or assisting in process design for new and existing facilities. This role involves analyzing, calculating, and designing new or revamped process equipment in refinery, chemical, and other industrial applications. Key duties include conducting field and technical evaluations of existing process units, performing complex calculations, developing PFDs and P&IDs, and providing design documentation for other engineering disciplines. The engineer will also develop equipment specifications, compile scope of work packages for construction, and interface directly with clients and construction teams. Technical support for field execution, including outage/turnaround projects, is also a critical aspect of the role. Professional development opportunities include leading small teams of process engineers, mentoring entry-level and graduate engineers, gaining autonomy in field evaluation assignments, and advancing expertise in process modeling and calculations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience
  • E.I.T. Preferred
  • Knowledge of P&ID development
  • Knowledge of heat and material balances
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and equipment sizing calculations
  • Knowledge of relief device sizing
  • Knowledge of API standards
  • Knowledge of ASME codes
  • Experience in coordinating across multiple disciplines
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to possess physical mobility (on the ground and at heights)
  • Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding/ladders using the appropriate and required fall protection.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing the appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to position self to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.
  • Ability to meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.

Nice To Haves

  • PE license a plus
  • Knowledge of process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field and technical evaluations of existing process units

  • Interface with Client and Construction, attend meetings, and provide written reports
