About The Position

Lyten is leading an industrial revolution through Lyten 3D Graphene™, a breakthrough supermaterial unlocking a new generation of products — from lithium–sulfur batteries and energy storage systems to concrete admixtures, lightweight composites, and next-generation sensors that are revolutionizing industries. Together, these innovations are making a massive global improvement and driving real-world impact across energy, mobility, construction, and defense. At Lyten, we believe the most meaningful careers begin with purpose — and with people who want to make a difference. We’re not just developing advanced supermaterials — we’re about to change the world as we know it, reshaping how energy is stored, how products are built, and how progress is made. We’re entering an exciting growth phase, scaling production across the U.S. and Europe and expanding our team of engineers, scientists, and innovators. Apply now to join our team and be part of something bigger than yourself — where collaboration, creativity, and purpose come together to build the technologies that will define the next century.

Requirements

  • Education: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Materials Science. Note: Candidates must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude regardless of major.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a hardware, manufacturing, or R&D lab environment.
  • Mechanical Hands-on: Experience with machinery involving pressure, hydraulics, or moving webs/rollers.
  • Data Literacy: Ability to interpret voltage curves, capacity retention charts, and basic statistical data.
  • CAD Proficiency: Ability to design simple fixtures or modify machine parts.
  • Work Environment: Willingness to work in a Dry Room environment and wear PPE for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Extrusion processes (polymer, metal, or even ceramic).
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and high-pressure systems.
  • Familiarity with Roll-to-Roll (web handling) processing.
  • Experience handling alkali metals (Lithium/Sodium).

Responsibilities

  • Lithium Extrusion & Feeding: Operate the lithium extruder to convert bulk lithium ingots into continuous strips. Manage hydraulic pressures, temperature zones, and die alignments to ensure consistent feedstock quality.
  • R2R Milling Operations: Run the proprietary Roll-to-Roll milling machine to reduce lithium strip thickness to target specifications with high surface quality.
  • Independent Dry Room Work: Execute daily production runs autonomously in a low-dew-point dry room. You must be comfortable working alone in this environment while adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Design: Perform routine maintenance on both the extruder (hydraulics, dies) and the R2R mill (rollers, tensioners). Use CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) to design and implement improvements for material feeding, scrap collection, or die modifications.
  • Data Analysis (Process vs. Performance): Log critical process data (extrusion pressure, roller gaps, resulting foil thickness). Correlate mechanical process data with downstream battery cycle life and efficiency to identify optimal operating windows.
  • Chemical Safety: Safely handle metallic lithium, perform waste disposal, and maintain a safe workspace according to EHS standards.

Benefits

  • In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
