About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated medicinal chemist with excellent leadership skills, strong in strategic thinking and experienced with working in multi-disciplinary teams (spanning chemistry, biology, analytical sciences, pharmacology, DMPK and toxicology). The successful candidate will lead projects from inception to clinical candidate nomination, advancing our targeted protein degradation (TPD) platform. Applicants should be experienced drug hunters with a track record of innovation and creative problem solving. The candidate will also manage collaborations and CRO resources as needed.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry with 6+ years, MS with 9+ years or BS with 12+ years of relevant experience
  • High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic problem-solving skills, synthetic methods and reactions mechanisms are required
  • Demonstrate expertise in drug design and medicinal chemistry strategies to improve drug-likeness, ADME/DMPK and safety properties
  • The candidate should have experience in both structure based and ligand based drug design concepts
  • The candidate should have experience working with external drug discovery CROs
  • The candidate should have deep understanding of molecular properties and DMPK concepts
  • Knowledge and experience in assessing and establishing intellectual property
  • The candidate should have an established interest and passion for new modalities and targeted protein degradation
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the success of chemistry aspects of a drug discovery team through individual contributions, and through mentorship of junior colleagues [DP1]
  • Can independently lead a Lead Optimization project and manage the chemistry team to advance towards candidate selection in collaboration with other line functions
  • Leading from the bench- candidate will spend a portion of their time in the lab, enabling and impacting from the bench
  • Accountable for providing guidance, direction and contributing to project delivery through the development of people
  • Manage external chemistry CROs and work with external partners to profile compounds
  • Work within mandated laboratory safety policies and practices and maintain an electronic notebook to company standards
  • Contribute to patent filings, publications and presentations
