The Role You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team where you will create advanced applications for Energy Management Systems (EMS) that enable our customers around the world to perform efficient and holistic real-time monitoring of complex transmission networks, intelligent and reliable security analysis for developing effective strategies to avert, mitigate and cope with system emergencies in their transmission grids.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, BS EE with Power Systems Emphasis, Mathematics or related technical field.
  • Understanding of power systems concepts in generation, transmission, distribution, distributed energy resources (DER)/DER integration and/or outage management
  • Proficiency with analytical tools, e.g. MATLAB, PSLF , CYME , PowerWorld or other similar tools
  • Exposure to Transient Switching studies using EMTP/EMTDC/PSCAD or equivalent software
  • Proficiency in C, C ++ and/or C# coding (school or work setting)

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with Power Systems Emphasis, Mathematics or related technical field.
  • Demonstrated understanding/application of knowledge in areas of power flow, state estimation, DER control and network optimization.
  • Knowledge of high voltage Electrical Power Systems .
  • Experience developing software in a commercial setting using C, C++ and/or C#.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and test software applications used in the power systems industry.
  • Analyze customer requirements and develop software application designs that satisfy customer requirements.
  • Develop product documentation for software applications.
  • Design theoretical algorithms and deliver the implementation in software applications.
  • Create test procedures and perform testing including unit and algorithm proof testing.
  • Maintain existing power system software applications and internal tools.
  • Perform technical reviews on development work products.
  • Stay up to date with the latest NERC/FERC standards and power system engineering industry developments.
