Optum Podiatry, part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. Associate Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals. Schedule: This position follows a 37.5-hour work week. The standard schedule is as follows: Monday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Tuesday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Saturday: 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The final work schedule will be determined by the hiring manager upon hire. Location: 575 Underhill Blvd, Suite 130 Syosset, NY 11791 2403 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park, NY 11040 ( Wednesday and Saturdays)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of computer proficiency experience with Microsoft office programs
  • Ability to work 37.5 hrs./week
  • Monday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Ability to travel 2403 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park, NY 11040 on Wednesday and Saturdays

  • Ability to be cross trained as a medical assistant

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, family members and guests with a friendly smile
  • Assists patients with signing in and completing registration
  • Enters and scans patient’s demographic and insurance information into Epic
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and benefit information; informs patients of insurance benefits
  • Collects co-payments and patient balances according to OPTUM payment guidelines
  • Ability to maintain a work queue list- complete any pending actions ie referrals, scheduling appointments
  • Confirms and schedule appointments
  • Check In and Check Out patients
  • Answers incoming phone calls in a courteous and prompt manner; directs calls and takes messages
  • Bring patients into the treatment room
  • Ability to be cross trained for medical assistant
  • Assists physician and clinical staff by coordinating follow up care for patients; schedules referral appointments for patients and obtains authorization for diagnostic testing
  • All employees are expected to keep abreast on current medical requirements relevant to their position, which includes maintaining patient confidentiality and abiding by all HIPAA and OSHA requirements
  • Ability to travel to other locations as needed
  • Assists with other tasks as assigned
