Orthology Physical Therapy, part of Optum part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. The Associate Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals. Schedule: 37.5-hour work week, Monday through Friday 6:30 am to 7:00 pm, shift to be determined by the hiring manager upon hire. Location: 3 Delaware Drive, Suite 202, Lake Success, NY 11042

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of computer proficiency experience in Microsoft Office
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience
  • Ability to abide by Optum guidelines including being on time for shift
  • Ability to work independently and maintain good judgment and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
  • Ability to be empathetic and kind towards patients
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience working in medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
  • Experience working with an electronic health record (EPIC)
  • Knowledge of medical terms

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients and visitors by warmly greeting them in person or on the telephone and assisting with their needs
  • Answers high volume of incoming calls and makes outgoing calls as needed
  • Checks patients in/out according to company procedures
  • Follow the payment Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
  • Answers incoming phone calls in a courteous and prompt manner; directs calls and takes messages
  • Ability to maintain a work queue list- complete any pending actions ie referrals, scheduling appointments
  • Schedules appointments in person or on the phone. Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization when scheduling appointments
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal, insurance, and financial information
  • Obtains revenue by collecting and recording patient charges
  • Active engagement with interoffice communication through email, phone, chats, etc
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
  • Works on assigned daily/weekly reports as needed
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
  • Maintains a tidy and inviting reception area
  • Ability to cover shifts for coworkers
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned
