About The Position

As an Associate Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting all stages of product packaging from design through to production. This role involves close collaboration with Technical Operations to enhance packaging efficiency and troubleshoot issues in real-time. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development of new packaging solutions and optimize existing processes, ensuring alignment with industry standards and company goals. This position reports to the Director of Product Development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent working experience (4 years) in a similar role.
  • 2 or more years’ experience in Packaging Engineering, preferably in the Nutraceutical, Food, or Pharmaceutical industries.
  • Demonstrated ability in packaging design and development, cost analysis, and project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with a thorough understanding of process modeling and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, SOPs, OSHA regulations, and safety standards in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of general office skills and administrative procedures, including, but not limited to: typing, filing, copying, faxing, editing, and development of memos, letters, reports, and correspondence.

  • General understanding of nutritional ingredients and product formulation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define packaging requirements, source, and qualify new packaging components and equipment.
  • Lead the design and development of new product packaging systems, including components, equipment, and operational procedures.
  • Stay updated with industry trends to identify potential opportunities and address supply chain challenges.
  • Manage cost estimation and budgeting for packaging materials and modifications.
  • Enhance Operations Equipment Efficiency (OEE) within the packaging department through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the qualification of new packaging components and equipment, assisting procurement and operations in vendor and contractor selection.
  • Provide expert technical support and training to internal teams and external customers.
  • Assist with the transition to new ERP systems, focusing on data integrity and cross-functional support.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, cGMP regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Follows established department SOP's, cGMP regulations, and batch record instructions.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and operates in a safe manner.
