About The Position

Under the general direction of the Medical Director, the Associate Medical Director for the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is responsible for the delivery of CSU psychiatric and medical services. The Associate Medical Director for the CSU holds overall responsibility for improving service quality at the CSU through clinical leadership, direction, coordination, consultation, and monitoring for organization staff. Has primary responsibility for overseeing clinical staffing, clinical training, and supervision of medical and nursing staff at the CSU. Assists in long range planning and development of psychiatric and medical services at the CSU. Other responsibilities include administrative and technical consultation, budget preparation, program goals and objectives, relevant policy and procedure development, decision making, and providing psychiatric services, as well as implementation of CMHA-CEI policies and procedures. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Possession of a medical or osteopathic doctorate from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency required.
  • Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.
  • Five (5) or more years of clinical practice in psychiatry required.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a lead position or a progressively more responsible position.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership, public speaking, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Controlled substance licensing by the State Board of Pharmacy required.
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry required.
  • Valid Federal DEA registration required.
  • Must be insurable through the professional liability and malpractice insurance provided by CMHA-CEI.
  • Must be able to attend/participate in evening meetings.
  • Access to reliable means of transportation for job related use required.
