Role Definition Schedules work for production and coordinate the necessary inventory to support the work scheduled.

Requirements

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Level Basic Understanding: Explains tactical plan for own area. Defines concepts of short-term and long-term planning. Describes the planning process and planning cycle used in own area. Compares tactical to strategic planning.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Level Working Knowledge: Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient. Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness. Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work. Avoids technical jargon when inappropriate. Looks for and considers non-verbal cues from individuals and groups.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Level Basic Understanding: Explains the value of a disciplined approach to problem solving. Describes problem reporting and escalation practices. Utilizes accepted procedures for problem analysis and resolution. Identifies key aspects of problem-solving techniques used in own area.
  • Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team. Level Basic Understanding: Identifies the key teams or work groups whose work is closely related. Applies the concept of collaboration to build relationships and coordinate with other teams. Demonstrates the ability to coordinate work so that it can help more than one team. Seeks help to secure support from another team when necessary.
  • Forecasting: Knowledge of forecasting tools, approaches and practices; ability to determine product demand and estimate production requirements and loads. Level Basic Understanding: Identifies common forecasting tools and techniques. Describes the roles and responsibilities of demand forecasting staff. Explains sources of information for forecasting demand. Names several forecasting indexes or measurements.
  • Production Scheduling and Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables. Level Working Knowledge: Follows existing procedures to set up, stage and ensure proper job completion. Identifies demand patterns; implements demand management processes. Coordinates appropriate production documentation and authorizations. Confirms production requirements and lead times beforehand; assists in setting up production jobs. Diagnoses and addresses production problems using established guidelines.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to incorporate customer and business requirements.
  • Releasing work orders to the shop.
  • Ordering required inventory.
