Job Title: Associate Manufacturing Engineer Reporting To: Engineer Sr., Mfg. Work Schedule: Onsite - Sunnyvale, CA Moog Space and Defense is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer for an entry level position within the manufacturing group in Mountain View, CA. Moog's legacy CSA specializes in vibration suppression and precision motion control. The company provides engineering services and builds highly engineered products for applications in systems ranging from space launch vehicles to aircraft, ground vehicles and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. As an Associate Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the assembly and delivery of prototype, qualification, and production hardware. As a member of the manufacturing team, the incumbent develops new and improves current processes to increase efficiency, make hardware more producible, and improve quality while maintaining customer requirements. The incumbent will generate new or use existing assembly instructions & tooling for the assembly, integration, and delivery of complex hardware. They will use effective communication skills to establish relationships with members of manufacturing engineering, program management, design and analysis engineering, and other supporting departments. They will operate and have a technical understanding of assembly tools, inspection equipment, environmental test equipment, and data collection tools. The incumbent records and maintains accurate data records, hardware traceability, and assembly logs. They also work in conjunction with the lead project engineer to generate assembly procedures, failure analyses, quality reports, and other formal documentation to support development, production, and qualification programs. The incumbent will collaborate with all Engineering groups on developing procedures, equipment, and investigating hardware problems. The incumbent will provide clear feedback to lead project engineers as to the nature of these problems, diagnose, and propose solutions. They will actively participate in team meetings, initiatives, and reports. The incumbent will be responsible for training personnel. Training consists of transferring assembly, test and processing methods to members within the teams to improve workforce flexibility and LEAN manufacturing initiatives. It also includes training new members in team concepts. They will work to build consensus within the Teams in support of Moog objectives and initiatives.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering OR a high school diploma, 2 year approved technical degree or formal training equivalency and at least 5 years of mechanical assembly experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-based skills.
  • Ability to work directly from engineering drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Proficient in CAD (Solidworks is preferred but not required)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to print basic assembly tools and equipment in 3D
  • Proficient in generating drawings from CAD Models
  • Solid understanding of GD&T
  • Experience operating thermal and vacuum chambers, digital multi-meters and power supplies

  • Overseeing material control activities (component receiving, inspection, cleaning, kitting, and traceability)
  • Supporting failure analyses and investigations.
  • Fostering process and safety improvements.
