About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Manager, SOX to join our team. As a key member of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Program team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of our internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving awareness and accountability of SOX compliance requirements across the business, and your collaborative approach will foster strong relationships with business partners and stakeholders. This role provides guidance, supervision, and partnership with internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure the SOX program is well-scoped, risk-based, and executed on schedule. The Associate Manager will also serve as the Corporate point-of-contact for SOX matters, support ongoing technology transformation, and maintain the Optro (formerly known as AuditBoard) platform. This is a critical (second-line) role in ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with regulatory requirements, offering the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5-8 years of recent SOX compliance experience, including non-IT / business process experience

Nice To Haves

  • Big 4 or other public accounting experience, with a deep understanding of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies
  • Minimum of 2 years in a Supervisory or Lead role with direct report / supporting cross-functional team
  • Proficiency with Optro (formerly AuditBoard) or similar GRC tools
  • Experience with organizations undergoing significant transformation
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment, with a high level of ownership, accountability, and initiative
  • Appreciation and excitement for making processes more efficient through the use of available technology, with experience in controls rationalization and modernizing SOX programs
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple timelines, coordinate cross functional teams, and monitor budgets.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; proven ability to convey technical concepts to non technical audiences at senior level

Responsibilities

  • Guide and supervise activities that sustain an effective SOX program, ensuring alignment with corporate policies and regulatory expectations.
  • Contribute insight to the SOX scoping and risk assessment process led by the External Testing Partner, helping identify high risk areas and appropriate control coverage.
  • Work with the External Testing Partner to shape realistic testing schedules; monitor progress and adjust resources as needed.
  • Translate SOX control concepts, audit findings, and remediation expectations to process owners and senior management in a clear, customer service oriented manner.
  • Serve as the main SOX POC for the Corporate business area.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with business areas, outsourced service providers, external and internal auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the control environment at all Business Areas, including IT.
  • Review and validate status reporting charts supplied by the External Testing Partner; ensure timely, accurate communication of program health to leadership.
  • Co manage the Optro environment with the IT Administrator, maintaining data integrity, user access, and workflow configurations.
  • Track project fees and budgets; proactively flag potential overruns and drive timely escalation.
  • Act as the bridge between LM business stakeholders and the 1LMX implementation partner, safeguarding SOX compliance throughout the transition.
