About The Position

As an Associate Manager on our DashMart Strategy & Operations team, within the category management pod, you will act as the general manager and own the end-to-end strategy and performance of key retail categories across the US. In this role, you will lead assortment decisions, vendor partnerships, pricing strategy and category analytics to accelerate growth and profitability. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Finance, Pricing and Product to bring category strategies to life and continuously optimize performance. You will report into the Manager, Category Management within our New Verticals Strategy & Operations team.

Requirements

  • You solve problems from first principles. You’re excited to solve problems in innovative ways, and you resist “this is how it’s always been done” thinking.
  • You’re analytical. You let data win arguments, and you’re comfortable pulling your own data in SQL or modeling in Excel.
  • You’re equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot. You don’t hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but you’re just as comfortable thinking long-term and inspiring a team. No job is beneath you.
  • You’re unafraid of ambiguity. Rapid change and learning is exciting to you, and you thrive in ambiguous, startup environments
  • You have 4-6+ years of professional experience. You’ve succeeded in high-performance cultures (whether in tech, operations, strategy, consulting, manufacturing, automation, engineering, etc).
  • You have completed your BS/BA Degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Bonus points if you have 2+ years of experience with ecom, physical retail, or startup environments. Experience in category management or retail buying is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own. You will act as the General Manager for key Retail categories with end-to-end responsibility of category performance including: selection productivity, profitability, affordability and availability.
  • Strategize. Own category strategy from first principles — defining assortment architecture, SKU productivity targets, pricing tiers, vendor mix, and promotional approach to maximize growth and margin.
  • Experiment. You’ll transform strategies into operational experiments that create measurable and actionable outcomes, informing your larger initiative implementation plans.
  • Analyze. You’ll assess the operational and financial impacts of your decisions, and iterate based on data.
  • Lead and collaborate. You’ll lead a team of two assortment specialists and partner with a cross-functional team, including local operations, supply chain, and space planning teams.
