As an associate manager of Customs and Trade, you will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of our trade compliance program, ensuring it reflects the standards of a highly respected global brand. You will analyze complex trade processes and recommend improvements to their design, effectiveness, and implementation in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of customs compliance experience in industry, customs brokerage, or customs agency roles, with strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and cross-border processes.
  • 3–5 years of customs compliance experience supporting global markets such as Asia, Europe, or Latin America.
  • 3–5 years of experience working in a recurring process or team-based environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • U.S. Customs Broker License (or international equivalent) preferred or active candidate.

Nice To Haves

  • People management experience preferred (1–5 years).
  • Experience using a global trade management system.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP systems preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, reporting tools, and customs/trade software.
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications preferred (CPA, ARM, CRM, BPMP, CQPA, CBPP, Six Sigma).
  • Degree in accounting, risk management, supply chain, international trade, or related experience.
  • Experience with COSO internal controls, audits, and accounting principles.
  • Strong data analysis, reconciliation, and data quality skills.
  • Experience developing workflow processes and policy guidelines.
  • Cross-functional process integration and mapping experience.
  • Ability to explain complex trade issues to non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience designing analytical models, reports, and decision-support tools.
  • International supply chain knowledge.
  • International living or work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. trade regulations (19 CFR, 15 CFR, HTS, FTAs, drawback, valuation, classification, EAR, FCPA, FTR).
  • Knowledge of Canadian import/export regulations.
  • Fluency in additional languages preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Oracle EBS, Miro, and related tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise on tariff classification, tariff reengineering, entry review, broker processes, and other customs compliance activities.
  • Lead and/or support the development and implementation of global customs standards.
  • Provide oversight to customs staff, including training and development.
  • Support the design of effective risk assessment and audit strategies.
  • Identify customs risk areas and recommend process improvements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on customs audits, prior disclosures, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations and oversee implementation of new requirements.
  • Ensure timely filing of customs declarations and post-entry adjustments.
  • Manage customs broker performance and update SOPs as needed.
  • Support preferential duty programs, including free trade agreements and duty drawbacks.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships across the business.
  • Communicate customs requirements with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Develop and maintain financial and operational controls related to customs activities.
  • Document and design business processes using standard methodologies.
  • Research and integrate external best practices into team processes.
