About The Position

Superior is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our Legal team. This role serves as a key partner to Project Management teams and corporate functions, supporting contract strategy, risk management, and legal operations across the organization. The Associate General Counsel will play an important role in strengthening contract processes and providing practical legal guidance in a fast-paced environment. This role is based at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Superior is a national leader in electrical design and construction. Requirements

  • You have earned a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • You an active state bar license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Ohio preferred)
  • You have at least 4 years of experience as an Attorney
  • You have a strong understanding of risk management and risk mitigation
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro

  • You have experience in construction law, contracts, and/or litigation

Responsibilities

  • Review and negotiate complex, high-value construction contracts
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with corporate vendors, including software licenses and technology agreements
  • Review and negotiate confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements
  • Collaborate with Project Management teams on contract-related matters, including development and interpretation of contract terms
  • Provide guidance on construction claims, including delay claims, change order disputes, and notice and cure obligations
  • Collaborate with the Risk/Insurance Team on coverage analysis, claims management, and legal risk assessments
  • Manage responses to third-party requests, including insurance claims, audits, and subpoena responses
  • Support the development and implementation of company-wide processes that improve and streamline legal matters
  • Provide training and guidance to Project Management team members on legal and contractual matters
  • Contribute to improving legal department workflows, processes, and use of technology
  • Stay current on industry-specific legal developments and best practices
