Our high-tech pizza manufacturing operations include an on-site bakery to produce best-in-class crusts, robotic packaging equipment, and a 24-hour shipping and receiving facility. When you’ll work… The Associate Food Scientist role works predominantly day shift hours with occasional nights/weekends to complete projects.

Requirements

• Proven ability to provide support to the organization in the areas of food technology, product design, food manufacturing, and food safety.
• Utilizing knowledge from your Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Culinary and any experience with food manufacturing, major food companies or restaurant industry.
• Organized and methodical approach to problem solving – often in a time-sensitive, tight-deadline situation where accuracy is critical.
• Passionate lifelong learner with a strong interest in mastering new techniques in the culinary arts and food science.
• Team player with excellent communication skills ready to work hard to ensure the whole Palermo’s team succeeds.

Responsibilities

• Execute Product Development and/or improvement projects including formulating finished product and sub-assembly for pizzas.
• Prepare small-scale samples for testing, document study results according to company procedures, and maintain a clean and organized environment with accurate recordkeeping.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of food science best practices to test materials, develop formulas improvements and/or new formulas, and prepare lab sheets.
• Assist with PR events, food shows, food presentations and production presentations.
