About The Position

University of Utah Health is seeking an Associate Executive Director for the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) Vineyard Campus & Clinical Operations. This new leadership position provides oversight and direction for all operational aspects of the new HCI Vineyard Campus. The clinical portion of the Vineyard campus is an operating unit of University of Utah Health, Hospitals and Clinics (UUHC). This position is responsible for overseeing operations, strategic planning, leadership, project management, and financial accountability for the Vineyard Campus and all clinical operations. The Associate Executive Director ensures the integration and collaboration of clinical operations at Vineyard with HCI research and education programs. This position is responsible for performance metrics related to patient satisfaction, clinical quality, and financial performance. This role works closely with the HCH Chief Administrative Officer, HCI Chief Clinical Officer, HCI Chief Comprehensive Cancer Center Executive Director, HCI Finance and Administration Executive Director and HCI leadership to evaluate and improve operational systems and deliver excellence in operations and patient-centered cancer care. This position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer, Huntsman Cancer Hospital and serves as the senior operational leader for the HCI Vineyard Campus and clinical operations. This position has no responsibility for providing direct care to patients. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related area, or equivalency.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible management experience in healthcare, with preference for oncology or complex hospital operations.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Demonstrated leadership, human relations, and effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of hospital business operations and oncology service line management.
  • Strong financial management, strategic planning, and forecasting skills.
  • Ability to translate institutional strategy into actionable operational plans.
  • Ability to travel between Vineyard campus and Salt Lake City campus as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the planning, operational readiness, and ongoing management of HCI Vineyard Campus and clinical operations.
  • Ensures alignment with Huntsman Cancer Hospital and UUHC system-wide goals for patient experience, quality, and financial performance.
  • Partners with the Chief Administrative Officer, HCH and HCI Chief Clinical Officer to deliver clinical and strategic objectives for the oncology service line.
  • Serves as a dyad partner with the HCI Vineyard Chief Clinical Officer in leading all clinical operations.
  • Builds and develops leadership team for HCI Vineyard Campus and clinical operations.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and professional development of staff.
  • Promotes a culture of engagement, recognition, and accountability.
  • Develops and monitors Vineyard operational and capital budgets in conjunction with HCI Vineyard, HCI Salt Lake Finance teams and UUHC Finance leadership.
  • Manages labor and non-labor expenses within budget parameters.
  • Oversees revenue stabilization and enhancement initiatives.
  • Responsible for patient satisfaction scores at HCI Vineyard.
  • Ensures delivery of PROMISE standards by all Vineyard staff and leaders.
  • Responsible to achieve clinical quality goals for HCI Vineyard Campus.
  • Manages and promotes continuous process improvements across oncology services.
  • Ensures regulatory and accreditation compliance (e.g., DNV).
  • Provides timely feedback, appraisals, and coaching to staff.
  • Proactively manages and resolves conflicts.
  • Establishes clear operational goals and monitors performance outcomes.
  • Develops strong collaborative relationships with staff, peers, and senior leadership.
  • Engages stakeholders with updates and involves teams in decision-making processes.
  • Represents HCI Vineyard in Utah County, strengthening community and referral relationships.
