About The Position

The T&D Associate Estimator / Estimator will work as a team member for a leading electrical contractor as an Estimator. This role is responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, quotes, and other documentation to prepare an all-inclusive quality and accurate bid submission. The T&D Associate Estimator will be a part of our extensive training program to help develop these skills. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or other related field or comparable equivalent of education and work experience; or
  • One to Five years related experience in Utility construction industry performing cost estimates and estimating knowledge of utility industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to understand, and/or possess basic knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services preferred

Responsibilities

  • Abide by estimating process.
  • Work with the Estimating Coordinator to upload project documents to ShareFile for vendors/subcontractors.
  • Review all contract documents to become familiar with project requirements and obligations under the contract and apply to pricing (schedule, specifications, drawings, safety manual, etc.), reviewing documents for accuracy and consistency.
  • Work with the Estimating Coordinator to submit RFIs for estimating questions by deadline.
  • Perform take-off and material take-off where applicable.
  • Obtain vendor and subcontractor quotes and evaluate for completeness and best price for use in bid.
  • Distribute qualification documents as required for the bid (MBE, WBE, experience, key individuals, etc.)
  • Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders. Setup all corporate reviews and lead discussion.
  • Prepare and/or provide input for customer required deliverables (schedule, proposal letter, etc.)
  • Prepare award documents for review to be submitted by the deadline
  • Identify areas of importance (milestones, LDs, etc.) of a project and relay to PM and/or Regional Director
  • Identify possible change orders and relay to PM
  • Review purchase orders, subcontracts, and contracts for accuracy
  • Facilitate a scope review with the PM; assist construction personnel in understanding basis and approach to the cost estimate.
  • Participate in KOM to handoff project to project management
