About The Position

As an Associate Energy Engineer at NORESCO, you will have the ability to develop skills necessary to thrive in a constantly evolving and exciting energy industry while gaining practical hands on experience of building systems. NORESCO’s Sustainability Services consulting group offers a full suite of energy, decarbonization, and sustainable services , including energy auditing, decarbonization plans, new building commissioning and retro-commissioning, energy & daylighting analysis, building certification consulting (including LEED®, WELL, Fitwel, Green Globes, ENERGY STAR), and sustainability and climate action master planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ months of energy, electrical, mechanical and/or decarbonization installation, construction, operations and/or engineering experiences through past employment or as an intern
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Interest and excitement in the field of decarbonization, electrification and sustainability.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, lighting, and control systems
  • Experience with testing equipment (balometers, anemometers, ultrasonic flow meters, temperature loggers, electrical meters, and others)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Obtained CEM/EMIT and/or EIT/FE

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing energy audits (ASHRAE Level 1 through investment grade) and decarbonization studies, for clients spanning all industries, including commercial, industrial, lab, pharmaceutical, healthcare, higher education, and municipal/county government sectors
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of common and complex building systems
  • Help identify and strategically recommend new and innovative energy and carbon reducing measures to meet individual client’s goals and objectives
  • Inventory greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and establish energy and GHG baselines, compare to local and industry thresholds
  • Become proficient in performing calculations to quantify and report on annual energy/cost savings and GHG reductions
  • Develop budget quality project cost estimates
  • Utilize our vast array of calibrated testing equipment to perform hands-on retro-commissioning field-testing activities. In doing so, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of various system operating conditions.
  • Assist in the development of decarbonization and electrification strategic plans.
  • Evaluate new and innovative advancements in technology.
  • Evaluate renewable and energy efficiency technologies including solar photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, micro-cogeneration systems, geothermal heat pumps, biomass systems, and thermal storage systems.
  • Hone your technical, communication, and leadership skills
  • Foster effective and positive business relationships both internally and externally within the industry
