The Platforms, Technologies, and NPI group at Solar Turbines is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to the development of control systems for turbomachinery packages. This role operates within a dynamic, fast-paced engineering environment and leverages agile development methodologies to drive profitable growth and deliver exceptional value to our customers. The Electrical Design Engineer is a key member of the design team, demonstrating the ability to rapidly assess complex challenges and engineer creative, effective solutions. This individual is a strategic thinker with a strong grasp of system-level design, capable of translating high-level requirements into detailed, actionable engineering tasks. The role requires a balance of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure our products meet the highest standards of functionality, quality, and safety. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, and other cross-functional team members to interpret business and design requirements, assess their impact on system architecture, and drive execution through well-defined deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Familiarity with electrical design tools (e.g., Promis-e or similar)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or co-op experience in an engineering environment
  • Exposure to gas turbine systems or industrial equipment
  • Basic understanding of NEC, CE directives, or machinery standards
  • Experience with control systems (PLC5, RSLogix) through coursework or internship
  • Familiarity with Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

Responsibilities

  • Developing Electrical Loop Schematics (ELS) and control system layouts.
  • Specify and source electrical components, size cables, and ensure compliance with design standards and system needs.
  • Create bills of material and documentation to support manufacturing, testing, and field deployment.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to support system integration.
  • Participate in design reviews and learn industry standards and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in design processes and documentation.
  • Engage with Supply Chain, Operations, and Field teams to understand product deployment.
