The Platforms, Technologies, and NPI group at Solar Turbines is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to the development of control systems for turbomachinery packages. This role operates within a dynamic, fast-paced engineering environment and leverages agile development methodologies to drive profitable growth and deliver exceptional value to our customers. The Electrical Design Engineer is a key member of the design team, demonstrating the ability to rapidly assess complex challenges and engineer creative, effective solutions. This individual is a strategic thinker with a strong grasp of system-level design, capable of translating high-level requirements into detailed, actionable engineering tasks. The role requires a balance of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure our products meet the highest standards of functionality, quality, and safety. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, and other cross-functional team members to interpret business and design requirements, assess their impact on system architecture, and drive execution through well-defined deliverables.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Familiarity with electrical design tools (e.g., Promis-e or similar)
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

Internship or co-op experience in an engineering environment
Exposure to gas turbine systems or industrial equipment
Basic understanding of NEC, CE directives, or machinery standards
Experience with control systems (PLC5, RSLogix) through coursework or internship
Familiarity with Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

Responsibilities

Developing Electrical Loop Schematics (ELS) and control system layouts.
Specify and source electrical components, size cables, and ensure compliance with design standards and system needs.
Create bills of material and documentation to support manufacturing, testing, and field deployment.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to support system integration.
Participate in design reviews and learn industry standards and best practices.
Drive continuous improvement in design processes and documentation.
Engage with Supply Chain, Operations, and Field teams to understand product deployment.
