About The Position

The Associate Director, Tax plays a critical leadership role in managing corporate and insurance tax compliance, reporting, and planning initiatives. This position oversees GAAP and statutory tax provisions, federal, state, and local tax filings, and ensures alignment with organizational objectives. The role partners with internal teams and external consultants to maintain accurate tax accounting, drive process automation, and respond to audits and regulatory inquiries. The Associate Director contributes to the development of tax strategy, provides analytical insights, and supports cross-functional collaboration to achieve business goals. With a focus on compliance, efficiency, and strategic guidance, this role ensures the organization remains agile in a complex regulatory environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience; Master’s degree in Taxation preferred
  • 7+ years of tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax environment
  • Proficiency with tax codes and regulations, including ASC 740
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams or managing projects
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage annual and quarterly GAAP and statutory tax provision processes, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Review federal, state, and local tax returns for corporate holding companies and insurance subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain the integrity of tax accounting and compliance results, leveraging technology solutions and automation initiatives
  • Manage tax responses to audits, notices, and related correspondence with internal and external parties
  • Ensure compliance with indirect tax obligations and coordinate with relevant business units
  • Partner with finance and business teams to address tax issues, support forecasting, and implement tax strategies
  • Stay current on developments in insurance tax regulations and educate relevant stakeholders
  • Support process improvements and automation to enhance tax compliance and analytical capabilities
