About The Position

The Associate Director, Strategic Project Integration partners with leaders in Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) to build strategic and tactical stewardship and engagement programs and activities. This position is responsible for the execution of the vision and strategy for stewardship and volunteer engagement efforts that engage and retain donors and volunteers; strengthen relationships with grateful patients, constituents, and/or alumni; express gratitude; show the impact of gifts and volunteerism; and inspire future giving and enhanced engagement. The Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine (FJHM) is the dedicated development and alumni relations team supporting the entities that comprise Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), including clinical departments, hospitals, satellite clinics, and the School of Medicine. We contribute to Johns Hopkins Medicine’s mission of patient care, research, and education through securing philanthropy, building and maintaining donor and alumni relationships, and supporting institutional priorities. FJHM partners closely with institutional leaders, faculty, and clinicians to engage alumni, patients, donors, and prospects in JHM’s work to advance medicine and improve the human condition. This position reports to the advisor of the Vice President of the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine with a dotted line to the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Office of Strategic Initiatives. In addition to the duties described above, the Associate Director will: Lead project management and integration initiatives across Johns Hopkins Medicine for the Office of Strategic Initiatives. Support a unique portfolio of development-related and capital projects across Johns Hopkins Medicine, overseeing program and research investments and providing behind-the-scenes support and facilitation for key initiatives and stakeholders. Collaborate closely with the Vice President of the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine and the VP’s advisor; administrative, facility, and clinical leaders; serving as a key liaison for facilities-related projects and priorities. Demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and resilience in a complex dynamic to foster strong relationships and align strategic initiatives between the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, Development and Alumni Relations, Office of Strategic Initiatives, and the SOM Dean’s Office. Participate in relevant Office of Strategic Initiatives team meetings and activities related to the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine work to ensure alignment, coordination, and effective communication across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years related experience, with at least two years of professional experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with DOFF leaders to manage a dynamic donor recognition program across donor audiences.
  • Partner with DOFFs with volunteers, boards, and councils to foster rewarding volunteer experiences and maximize board effectiveness.
  • Foster community among staff supporting leadership volunteers by convening regular meetings and discussions.
  • Independently develop, design, and produce high-quality stewardship deliverables.
  • Write and design personalized donor impact reports and create other special stewardship pieces for donors.
  • Utilize different platforms and communication tools, such as videos, to convey impact to donors and enhance stewardship efforts.
  • Utilize database (CRM) in daily work, including updating individual records, pulling reports, and interpreting dashboards and data.
  • Remain updated about industry best practices and routinely suggest new ways to implement and push the field forward as appropriate.
  • May partner with other DOFFs to align stewardship and engagement opportunities with broader messaging, brand and priorities.
  • Support the development and execution of university-wide volunteer events.
  • Manage the creation of biennial welcome letters from the chair of the University board of Trustees to new advisory board/council members.
  • Oversee the Board Portal program.
  • Maintain an online set of institutional guidelines, policies and procedures, and other resources to support DOFF partners.
  • Serve on institutional working groups/committees and lead training as needed.
  • May supervise staff.
