Plant Engineering Manager - Indianapolis Parenteral Manufacturing Position Overview Plant Engineering within Indianapolis Parenteral Manufacturing is responsible for maintaining the site’s facility infrastructure—including buildings, HVAC, UAF hoods, GMP utilities, steam, water, sewer, and related utility systems—in a continuous state of compliance. The organization ensures facilities and infrastructure are fit for use when needed, maintenance and reliability practices are effective, and corrective and improvement actions are implemented promptly. Plant Engineering also oversees the efficient management of local capital investments and provides leadership and governance for engineering and maintenance contract resources. The Plant Engineering Manager is responsible for setting strategic direction and objectives for Plant Engineering within Indianapolis Parenteral. This role partners closely with site and functional leaders to influence and deliver business priorities, including the Site Business Plan, GMP Plan, and HSE objectives. The role encompasses leadership of daily operations, employee development, regulatory compliance, budget management, and execution of major projects and shutdowns.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated strength in team leadership, interpersonal effectiveness, and communication.
  • Strong technical competence within Plant Engineering or related disciplines (typically 5+ years of experience).
  • Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong talent development and coaching capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., GMP, OSHA, FRAP).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, mentor, coach, and recognize employees across the Plant Engineering organization.
  • Build and sustain a strong safety and quality culture.
  • Ensure the organization is staffed with capable talent to meet current and future business needs.
  • Remove barriers that limit team effectiveness and performance.
  • Develop and deliver Plant Engineering objectives aligned with the site business plan.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics; drive continuous improvement where gaps exist.
  • Ensure appropriate prioritization, resourcing, and tools to execute departmental objectives.
  • Track and report team progress against defined goals.
  • Ensure facilities, utilities, and HVAC systems support safe, compliant, and reliable operations.
  • Enforce adherence to cGMPs, HSE requirements, corporate policies, and departmental procedures.
  • Maintain accountability for a safe work environment while supporting all site and corporate HSE goals.
  • Serve as a key interface with regulatory agencies during inspections.
  • Provide technical input and leadership to support operations, projects, and investigations as needed.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams supporting daily utility and HVAC operations, site support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Sponsor and support C4I, CAPA, Six Sigma, and Lean initiatives within the organization.
  • Participate in site master planning activities and major capital projects.
  • Manage departmental budgets, including responsibility for Parenteral Building Collectors.
  • Ensure effective capital planning, execution, and stewardship of site assets.
