About The Position

The Associate Director of Student Accessibility Services, under the direction of the Director of Student Accessibility Services, will assist and support all aspects of the operations, functions, and mission of Student Accessibility Services at St. Cloud State University. Assess, plan, facilitate, and evaluate accommodations and support services for students with disabilities. Provides information and consultation regarding the accommodation process to current and perspective students and their support networks Provide transition support, education, and support services for concurrent/ dual enrolled students Evaluate and interpret disability related documentation and evaluations provided to support requests for accommodations Conduct individual meetings with students to determine, arrange, and update reasonable accommodations as determined by the interactive process Provide support and management of individual student cases Provide culturally relevant and appropriate services and accommodations Consult and collaborate with faculty and/or staff to determine reasonable accommodations Maintains case files and confidential student records in accordance with Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and college policies Support and encourage students’ continued development of disability identity, self-advocacy, knowledge of disability rights, and personal understanding of impacts of their condition(s) in relation to environmental barriers Engage thoughtfully and respectfully to mediate individual or group conflicts in order to achieve satisfactory resolutions, in accordance with established processes and policies Collect, analyze, and assess departmental data for continuous improvement Assist with the development and implementation of department policies and procedures Create and maintain relationships with campus partners Provide visionary leadership and oversight for the SAS Coaching program Develop, implement, and assess coaching initiatives for students with disabilities Conduct individual and group coaching meetings with students Provide mentorship, professional development, guidance, and continued training to graduate assistant coaches Collaborate with campus and community partners on events and programing that contribute to students' academic, personal, and professional success Serve as coordinator of Student Accessibility Services testing services: Collaborate with the Director to establish, implement, and assess comprehensive testing accommodation supports, processes, procedures, and policies Maintain test integrity standards for campus faculty and community Ensure testing procedures comply with ADA approved accommodations Respond to faculty and staff inquiries and concerns regarding accommodated assessments Support students in requesting accommodations for national, local, and field assessments requiring special consideration for set up and implementation of accommodations (i.e. HESSI, ACCUPLACER, TEAS, etc.) Understand, evaluate, demonstrate, and implement assistive technology and accessible digital media Address conflict, discrepancies, and challenges related to test proctoring Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Disability Studies or related field and one (1) year professional experience working in accessibility/disability services; or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Disability Studies or related field and one (2) years of professional experience working in accessibility/disability services
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering equity in a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Experience interpreting and applying Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other appropriate laws pertaining to higher education and disability.
  • Experience working with and advocating for people with disabilities
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to build and sustain relationships with governing agencies, students, and colleagues/professionals at all levels of the community
  • Skills, both written and verbal, sufficient for effective communications, organization, and prioritization
