About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Associate Director of Operations to lead and optimize our U.S. operational workflows, including supply chain, logistics, production, demand planning, sales support, data analysis, and inventory management. This role will also oversee relationships with key third‑party logistics partners and collaborate closely with our UK‑based Director of Operations to ensure cohesive global alignment. The Associate Director of Operations will play a critical role in improving processes, implementing system upgrades, and ensuring operational efficiency that supports the company’s long‑range business objectives. This position will be based in our Beverly, MA office on a hybrid schedule.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading operations and production functions, with expertise in service quality, people management, process optimization, and technology.
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of supply chain, sales, production, and customer service operations.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Advanced analytical and decision‑making skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing business needs and provide practical solutions.
  • Experience with performance metrics, operational analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi‑site operations.
  • Ability to motivate teams, navigate conflict, and drive results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • High technical literacy with the ability to automate and streamline processes.
  • 5–10 years of experience in a production or distribution environment, including supervisory or management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Operations, Technology, or a related field.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Significant experience in the publishing or printing industries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute supply chain and operational strategies that ensure uninterrupted product availability to meet Long‑Range Plan goals while driving cost‑reduction initiatives.
  • Oversee all operational functions, including production, inventory, fulfillment, and shipping.
  • Partner closely with the Senior Management Team and CEO to support business milestones and reinforce company culture and values.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report operational metrics; lead quarterly performance reviews and reporting initiatives.
  • Lead demand planning to ensure accurate forecasting and continuous availability of saleable inventory across all markets.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners, including third‑party logistics providers such as HBG.
  • Develop, refine, and enforce operational policies and procedures to enhance day‑to‑day efficiency.
  • Evaluate current operational processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, coaching, and mentoring team members.
  • Oversee business process documentation, system implementation, and user training to support long-term scalability.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges and adapt processes to maintain best practices and smooth operations.
  • Manage U.S. office leases and facilities, including expansions, downsizing, or closures as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the CEO.
