The Associate Director of Network Operations is responsible for guiding the strategic direction, performance, and ongoing modernization of Carrier’s Global Network Operations. This position establishes the necessary leadership, organizational framework, and oversight to improve service reliability, operational performance, and accountability throughout the company’s network operations. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a proven ability to transform teams through technical expertise, operational rigor, and a people-centered approach, consistently cultivating a high-performing, agile, and metrics-focused team within a culture committed to continuous improvement. Given the expansive global network spanning 50 countries and more than 500 sites, this role requires deep technical knowledge and strong business acumen to ensure effective day-to-day operations. As a pivotal member of the network management team, the Associate Director will provide thought leadership and collaborate with engineering and architecture partners to deliver solutions aligned with business objectives. The incumbent will proactively address network challenges and risks, including capacity planning and issue identification.

  • Own the stability, security, and scalability of global enterprise networks (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, firewalls) across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Define and drive network modernization initiatives including automation, zero-trust architecture, performance engineering, and resiliency.
  • Lead a high-performing team of network engineers; set technical standards, enforce accountability, and develop engineering talent.
  • Act as top-tier escalation and incident commander for critical network events, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal business impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Security, DevOps, and Business Operations to support hybrid, high-growth environments.
  • Implement ITIL-based processes for incident, change, and problem management to ensure operational excellence.
  • Drive observability improvements through telemetry, actionable alerts, and predictive analytics using advanced monitoring tools.
  • Champion firewall policy enforcement, segmentation, and secure remote access strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory frameworks and internal governance standards.
  • Define and report operational KPIs (uptime, MTTR, change success rates) to leadership, driving transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years of experience in network operations
  • 5 years of experience in switching/routing/wireless and firewall/VPN technologies
  • 3 years of experience in operating key processes including incident, change and problem management
  • 3 years of experience as a team lead either with matrixed team members or direct reports
  • Degree in Computer Science or Business Management
  • Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCDP
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies (Cisco Viptela, Meraki, or similar)
  • Enterprise wireless experience across office, manufacturing, and distribution environments
  • Cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI
  • Familiarity with advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
