About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President of External Relations, the Associate Director of Marketing is the strategic and executional leader of internal and external communications for Agate. This person is the owner of branding and messaging to the broader community. Role responsibilities include ownership of digital communications, print newsletters, fundraising appeals, social media, public relations, graphic design, and support on events. Also a leader of the External Relations team, the Associate Director of Marketing supervises the External Relations Operations Coordinator. This person is also a member of the cross-functional Senior Leadership Team, which meets monthly to discuss the overall operations, performance and direction of the organization. This role is for someone who knows how to execute a Marketing and Communications program and is ready to also take on more strategic leadership. The Associate Director will still own all levels of execution for their program and will also play a pivotal and strategic role setting direction of the team and, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the organization.

  • Preferred experience in a fundraising environment, with Raiser's Edge database, WordPress website content management system, photography, videography
  • Team work is conducted in English. Additional languages spoken by our clients (Spanish, Amharic, Oromo, Somali, ASL) is highly valued

Responsibilities

  • Donor Communications & Storytelling Create and send donor communications, including fundraising appeals, newsletters, event invitations, social media, website, and etc. Engage with cross-functional teams to understand Agate's work and gather stories for storytelling purposes. Execute all graphic design needs, digital communications, social media, and manage relationship with print contractor.
  • Marketing Strategy Assess and manage Agate brand recognition and reputation. Own internal brand adoption and usage. Proactively seek out good practices and new ideas to increase awareness and support for Agate in the community.
  • Team & Organization Leadership Be a leader on the External Relations team, helping create annual plans and goals driving growth for Agate through external support. Attend team meetings and serve as a model of behavior and work ethic to other team members. Serve on the Senior Leadership Team of the organization, attending monthly meetings to review department-level results and discuss organization issues and priorities.
  • Supervision Supervise the External Relations Operations Coordinator, ensuring clear accountabilities, performance reviews, and regular check-ins – at least monthly. Take responsibility for cascading accountabilities for their work. Participate in the Supervisory Team at Agate.
