About The Position

In this role, you'll be responsible for acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors; prospecting new donors; and working with the development team to strengthen the organization’s overall fundraising capacity. Requirements

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, and a minimum of five years of demonstrated success and experience in individual and major gift fundraising.
  • Must feel a connection to the mission and services of Stillwater Hospice.
  • Demonstrate experience and success in major gift solicitation and obtaining planned giving commitments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail, are required.
  • Must be at ease in meeting people and asking for financial support.
  • The ability to meet stringent deadlines and sensitivity to public opinion are necessary.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups. Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information, and recommend courses of action to be taken.

  • Familiarity with word processing, fundraising databases, and graphics software is required. Knowledge of Blackbaud and experience using Raiser’s Edge is preferred.

  • Must have visual, hearing, and mental ability to initiate and comprehend written and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to engage in clear, concise verbal/non-verbal communication.
  • Must be able to perform tasks involving physical activity such as lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds; walking, standing, talking, hearing, pushing, fingering, reaching, seeing, stooping, smelling, depth perception, and color vision.
  • Must be able to climb a minimum of three (3) flights of stairs. Must be able to endure long periods of sitting while driving.
  • Must have the ability to remain calm in occasional emergency situations.
  • Must be willing to travel in inclement weather. Potential threat of physical violence to self.
  • Potential exposure to environmental pollutants. Potential exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Potential exposure to variable temperatures in the working environment.
  • Potential exposure to substances within the office environment, including copy machine toner, VDT emissions, cleaning solvents, and medical supply chemicals.
  • Seat belts must be worn while traveling during working hours according to state law.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Director of Development to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals.
  • Identify, cultivate, educate, solicit, and steward an assigned portfolio of individual supporters to raise funds and meet Stillwater Hospice's programmatic and capital needs.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development on major gift fundraising and planned giving strategies.
  • Persuasively communicate the mission and vision of Stillwater Hospice and the efforts of Stillwater Foundation.
  • Conducts prospect research on supporters to build stronger relationships and to hone ask amounts that align with capacity and interest.
  • Maintains and promotes a planned giving program that encourages contributions toward v.
  • Creates and executes a strategy for retaining and advancing a base of annual individual donors.
  • Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with individual and major donors.
  • Pursues gifts for special projects and assists with creating cases for support as needed and determined by the CEO, Chief Development Officer, Board of Directors, and Stillwater Foundation.
  • Implements and maintains an ongoing program for donor stewardship and recognition.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development to create and implement Stillwater Hospice’s financial and comprehensive development strategy.
  • Serves as a Stillwater Hospice representative through external and internal events.
  • Adheres to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethics and Donor Bill of Rights.

  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the health and/or safety of self or others in the workplace.
  • Must have an Indiana motor vehicle operator’s license and have access to an automobile with current automobile insurance coverage.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
