About The Position

The Department of Pathology, University of Maryland School of Medicine invites MD and/or PhD applicants for a full-time Clinical Pathology faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful applicant will have experience in molecular and clinical microbiology, including bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, parasitology and virology. The UMMC Microbiology Laboratory is the reference microbiology laboratory for the University of Maryland System and performs testing for 14 hospitals within the University of Maryland System. The Assistant/Associate Director will be actively involved in clinical issues, including consultation, quality management, operational efficiency and outreach. Academic opportunities include clinical, translational and collaborative research. UMMC has a pathology residency program and a CPEP-accredited microbiology fellowship program. The applicant will be expected to be active in teaching medical students, residents, infectious disease and clinical microbiology fellows and graduate students. Requirements

  • MD and/or PhD applicants
  • Experience in molecular and clinical microbiology, including bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, parasitology and virology.
  • Subspecialty fellowship training in microbiology, including ACGME or CPEP-accredited clinical microbiology fellowship, is required.
  • Evidence of success in the academic setting, including teaching and publications, is required.
