Bargaining Unit: UUP Job Summary: The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Supervisor / TH Associate Technical Director of Clinical Laboratory, Microbiology & Molecular Pathology. The successful candidate will: Provide leadership to Virology, Serology, and Molecular Laboratory functions. Prepare and implement budget for the Virology and Molecular Pathology Laboratory. Review staffing needs and prepare work schedules. Work closely with the Director and Hospital Infection Control Department to identify infectious disease outbreaks and to institute monitoring procedures. Update LIS database as new revisions are implemented. Review, update laboratory policy, and procedure manuals as necessary. Ensure prompt and accurate performance and reporting of laboratory test results by laboratory staff. Oversee the technical operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. Implement procedures and manage data in accordance with Performance Improvement goals. Provide recommendations for improving products and services. Ensure Laboratory compliance with Regulatory requirements. Prepare administrative reports. Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job related duties and responsibilities as business needs warrant and/or as needed. Provide for the Quality Management system.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Physical, or Biological Sciences.
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.

Nice To Haves

6+ years of supervisory experience in Virology, Serology, Molecular Laboratory.
Master's Degree in Medical Technology, Physical, or Biological Sciences.
ASCP Certification.

Responsibilities
