About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities Management or designee, the Associate Director of Capital Planning will oversee the planning, design, and execution of capital construction projects, and ensure that projects adhere to approved design, construction standards, budget, and schedule while collaborating with stakeholders and managing project teams. This position offers a competitive starting salary of $50,000 - $90,000, along with a comprehensive college benefits package. Requirements

  • Master's degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work an extended, flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, as required.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise critical human relations skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with college employees and external partners.
  • Commitment to working in a multicultural environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
  • Five or more years of experience managing multiple construction projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management, contract law, and building codes.
  • Experience coordinating with architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, including project management software.
  • Certification or licensing in appropriate fields of construction or project management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all phases of capital projects, including renovation, new construction, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Engage and manage outside architectural, engineering, and consulting services.
  • Conduct internal design review meetings to ensure alignment with campus architectural, material, furniture, and accessibility standards.
  • Track and manage projects for required approvals, compliance, and timely completion.
  • Evaluate project costs, budgets, and change orders, ensuring adherence to fiscal policies.
  • Monitor project schedules, milestones, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to staff and stakeholders on construction, design, and code compliance issues.
  • Development policies and procedures related to capital project planning, procurement, and execution.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, reports, and records.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between internal departments, contractors, and external consultants.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of staff and student records.
  • Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required.
