Position Information BASIC FUNCTION: This position takes a lead role in planning and assessment activities coordinated by Institutional Research & Assessment (IRA), under the Office of the Provost. Specifically, this position coordinates all surveys (external and internal) within IRA and coordinates all technology platforms.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the literature on learner-centered assessment and evaluation, general education, rubrics as an assessment tool, high impact educational practices, surveys, response rates, and best practices in higher education assessment.
  • Experience executing a large-scale project successfully, from conceptualization through completion.
  • Ability to take direction, assume increasingly independent responsibility, and provide appropriate follow up on project-based work.
  • Ability to guide assistant director(s) and coordinator(s) to set deadlines, manage project completion, and develop staff.
  • Possess strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and reporting-writing skills.
  • Ability to create visual analytics and performance dashboards.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with designing, administering, and reporting on data from surveys.
  • Knowledge of social science research methods.
  • Experience with curriculum or instructional design.
  • Experience with a data management platform (e.g., Watermark/Taskstream, TracDat, Anthology/CampusLabs) and survey management tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Survey Monkey).
  • Experience providing program accreditation support (e.g., AACSB, CAEP, SACSCOC, MSCHE) in a higher education setting.
  • Experience using and manipulating data, including familiarity with statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, SAS) and/or database (e.g., Access, SQL Server) software applications.
  • Master's degree in higher education or other discipline and a minimum of five years professional experience in academic outcomes assessment and/or institutional assessment and related activities within a higher education setting (preferably institutional research, faculty development, institutional effectiveness, or assessment).
  • Alternatively, as faculty directly overseeing assessment functions or earned doctoral degree.
  • Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates engagement in and provides support and direction for the assessment of the general education curriculum.
  • Designs, administers, and analyzes institutional surveys.
  • Supports assessment and accreditation activities across the university through consulting, review, and technical support.
  • Co-manages assessment platform for the university (Watermark), offering technical support, troubleshooting, updating users, and creating support material for users.
  • Manages course evaluation platform (Course Evaluations & Surveys by Watermark) and coordinates with campus partners regarding its effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Leads the administration, research and reporting related to university survey initiatives such as student engagement (NSSE), faculty survey (FSSE), First-Year experience (CIRP), Course Evaluations and internal university survey projects administered via Qualtrics.
  • Serves as a central support unit for internal surveys across campus (Qualtrics training, survey consulting, survey creation and distribution for university leadership).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
