About The Position

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement, the Associate Director of Annual Giving will actively manage strategic fundraising and engagement campaigns that increase donor participation and annual giving through data informed audience segmentation, compelling messaging, and innovative multi-channel outreach. The Associate Director of Annual Giving is responsible for coordinating and championing reunion giving, managing strategic affinity-based solicitations, and raising leadership-level annual gifts from constituents. This position also assists with Annual Giving operations to ensure data integrity, strategic segmentation strategy, and timely completion of projects to optimize engagement and fundraising results. This position requires flexibility to work evening and weekend hours and the ability to travel, as required. The position will be based primarily on the University of Redlands campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 1-3 years of fundraising experience, and/or related experience in communications and marketing.
  • A valid California Class C CA driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse campus community.
  • Enthusiasm for fundraising and the mission of higher education.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic understanding of higher education advancement and development, annual giving, and alumni relations.
  • Ability to effectively plan, implement, and monitor programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with advancement staff and other campus partners.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to assume responsibility for completing projects efficiently.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and develop new strategies to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Executive Director in preparing, reviewing, implementing, and monitoring progress on the annual Redlands Fund plan, with a focus on raising the established target for the Redlands Fund, Woodbury Fund and San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) Fund each year.
  • Responsible for drafting and editing annual giving communications within a multi-channel solicitation plan including email, direct mail, text messages, social media, and phone calls.
  • Partners with the Annual Giving and Advancement Services teams to filter, review, and clean donor data to prepare sophisticated, strategic segmentation of mailing lists, ensuring a high degree of personalization while maintaining data integrity to produce effective mailings, solicitations, and mini campaigns.
  • Leads the reunion-giving program by collaboratively developing class gift solicitation materials and working with reunion committee volunteers to engage in successful peer-solicitation strategies and tracking of reunion giving. Will also coordinate annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving colleagues to manage individual reunion classes.
  • Coordinates with advancement and campus partners for the University of Redlands Giving Days, including entering and tracking matching gift pledges, recruiting clubs and organizations for event participation, and reconciling Giving Day numbers.
  • Manages strategic crowdfunding initiatives to increase support across campus, including the establishment of crowdfunding pages.
  • Maintains a portfolio of leadership annual giving level prospective donors for qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of philanthropic support, working toward an overall objective of growing unrestricted giving.
  • As part of the Advancement team, the Associate Director participates fully in various University activities, such as Homecoming, Commencement, Scholarship Endowment Luncheon, and Reunion weekends.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.
