What You Will Do: The Associate Director, Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for strategic leadership of Manufacturing Engineering resources, technical strategies, and investment resources that support objectives of Hot Section Module Center South (HSMC-S) including the investments at Amercon & ACT. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional leadership, interpersonal and team skills, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business requirements. Additionally, we’ll be looking for individuals with strong business acumen, willingness to implement and drive lean manufacturing techniques, and the ability to develop and insert new technologies into the manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related STEM field with 12 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, or related technical discipline; OR Master’s Degree with 10 years of experience
  • Experience leading engineering teams or technical organizations
  • Experience managing capital investment planning and execution within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience implementing manufacturing process improvements and cost reduction initiatives

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or related STEM field
  • Experience within aerospace or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) assessments and production transitions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional improvement initiatives
  • Strong communication and executive-level presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Align Mfg. Engineering resources with projects that support key business initiatives: Policy Deployment, COPQ goals, Solumina, MRL/TRL for new technologies and hardware.
  • Promote the use of data driven root cause and corrective action tool usage to support the module center's CORE Maturity.
  • Effectively manage the Mfg. Engineering support budget.
  • Implement and execute engineering changes to ensure customer requirements are met and financial commitments are achieved
  • Develop, plan, & implement capital requirements to support productivity improvements, technology insertion, manufacturing automation and capacity for future programs.
  • Ensure MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) aligns to Program requirements as hardware transitions from development to production across all of HSMC-S.
  • Drive product cost reduction and ensure War on Cost targets are achieved through process improvements and deployment of new technologies.
  • Develop Manufacturing Engineers by working through Manufacturing Engineering proficiency levels.
  • Work cross functionally with HSE, ESTO, ESA, MPE to remove impediments one projects that support the operations team.
  • Manage and run the HSMC MCAB process targeted at increasing quality signature and reduction COPQ cost.
