About The Position

Under the supervision of the Superintendent and in accordance with established policies and procedures of the Diocese of Columbus, the Associate Director for Advancement leads the development, marketing, and communications efforts of the Office of Catholic Schools. He or she will also provide direct support, consultation, and guidance to Catholic schools. The position is expected to use personal judgment in carrying out routine duties and responsibilities of the Office. This job description reflects management's assignment of essential job responsibilities; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. All the duties and standards within this job description will be performed according to the established policies, procedures and guidelines outlined in the Diocesan policy and procedures manuals.

Requirements

  • Compliance with BCI&I background checks and completion of Protecting God's Children program.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, Masters preferred.
  • Additionally, professional development is mandatory to remain current in best practices.
  • 3 to 5 years related experience is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation
  • Ability to maintain organization, multi-task and establish priorities
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility
  • Ability to research issues using expert materials available on the Internet
  • Requires excellent analytical skills and concern for details and must be proficient in MS Office software – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress, graphic design, and media planning.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relation skills when dealing with co-workers, students, families and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, legal documents or government regulations
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies or members of the business and general community at large.
  • Ability to perform basic accounting functions using automated system
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to manipulate, interpret, and analyze numbers.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the vision, mission, and core values of the Office of Catholic Schools (OCS) and the Diocese of Columbus.
  • Help schools develop communications, marketing, development/fundraising, and/or enrollment plans for schools designated by the Superintendent to be implemented at the local level with the guidance of the Office of Catholic Schools team.
  • Collaborate closely with appropriate school staff members on implementing best-practices related to advancement activities.
  • Provide consultation, leadership, guidance, and oversight on communications, marketing, development, capital campaigns, special events and other giving efforts.
  • Provide presentations to schools and groups of administrators on advancement topics and opportunities.
  • Ensure engaging value propositions at all schools.
  • Manage OCS communication strategy and ensure the consistent application of OCS brand identity.
  • Respond to general inquiries and maintain general mailboxes.
  • Manage and maintain the OCS website and ensure alignment of vision and message.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Office to manage OCS social media accounts, ensuring frequent, on-message posting.
  • Write, produce, and publish information and materials needed to convey the vision and mission of Catholic schools.
  • Collaborate with other OCS team members on communications strategy for efforts related to recruitment, government affairs, Catholic culture and academics.
  • Work with the Superintendent to generate an annual report document.
  • Collaborate with other curial offices to ensure clear messaging on topics that impact or are relevant to schools.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Office and with schools throughout the year to publish coverage of the annual Catholic Schools Week, graduation, and back to school events, graduation events, and ensure the schools’ year-round presence in diocesan news media and social media platforms.
  • Create a collaborative network of development directors and enrollment management directors at Diocesan schools.
  • Develop reoccurring PD opportunities and communications for these audiences.
  • May include travel to relevant conferences and reporting back on what is learned from these events.
  • Represent the Superintendent or OCS at meetings, on committees, or at events as needed.
  • Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned by Superintendent.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for this job.
  • Attendance at after-hours and weekend meetings and events will be required periodically.
  • Complies with federal, state and local safety laws.
  • Maintains a neat and safe work area.
  • Respond via e-mail or telephone regarding questions from parents, principals and teachers.
  • The successful candidate will have to pass competencies for this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
