About The Position

The Associate Director of Finance & Administration supports the administrative, financial, and operational functions of the NYU Tandon Department of Computer Science & Engineering and helps ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day administration of the department. Reporting to the Director of Administration & Operations, the Associate Director manages the department’s financial affairs and administrative operations and assists in administering its educational and research programs. The role works closely with the Director to implement administrative unit-level strategic priorities and execute school and departmental goals in support of students, research, community engagement, and institutional initiatives. The Associate Director plays a key leadership role in managing a high-volume administrative environment and overseeing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, managing budgets and supervise staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area
  • 5+ years years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a highly matrixed organization directing administrative services/processes, budgets, and staff, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong leadership, planning, organizational, and management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large workload and successfully balance multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and institutional policies and apply them effectively with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated responsiveness and professionalism in managing communications and responding to inquiries from faculty, students, and administrative partners in a timely manner
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to delivering high-quality work efficiently and reliably
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with faculty, students, staff, and senior administrators
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders across the university
  • Demonstrated supervisory and staff management skills, including the ability to mentor staff, provide performance feedback, and support professional development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and commitment to process improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while exercising sound judgment and independent decision-making
  • Occasional weekend or evening work may be required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and other PC applications
