Abiomed, Inc., a member of The Johnson & Johnson’s Family of Companies, is recruiting for an Associate Director Fellows Programs based remotely within the United States which may require up to 80% of domestic travel and weekends. The Associate Director, Fellows Program will create, manage and evaluate the Abiomed fellowship program strategy and support the Physician Program Directors initiatives and activities related to fellowship physicians and programs. The primary focus of this role will be to manage a team of Fellowship Program Mangers with responsibility to build relationships by working closely with fellowship programs and multiple stakeholders to develop, execute and assess effectiveness of fellow education programs offered by Abiomed. The Associate Director will work closely alongside internal stakeholders (professional education, physician program director, commercial leadership) to determine training gaps and unmet needs in fellows’ education and create experiences for additional engagement. Fellowship programs to include: Interventional Cardiology, Adult Heart Failure, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Critical Care/Anesthesiology, Cardiology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Science related field with a minimum of ten years of related experience is required.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in the field of Cardiology in a sales, clinical and/or professional education customer-facing role (including Interventional Cardiology, Heart Failure, Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or other Cardiovascular related specialties)
  • Advanced clinical understanding of cardiology, specific to mechanical circulatory support.
  • Demonstrated ability to have challenging discussions with key physicians to modify behaviors and promote best training practices.
  • Experience handling large quantities of data, including collection and analysis (advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to give written and verbal feedback to direct reports and peers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fellowship programs and fellowship directors highly preferred
  • Experience handling key customer relationships and working with key opinion leaders in fellowship programs
  • Advanced proficiency in MCS and Abiomed products
  • Project management experience and/or experience in building a new program with measurable metrics for success
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience and/or training

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute fellowship program engagement strategy for fellowship programs in aligned segment with input from multiple stakeholders including Physician Program Directors, Professional Education and Commercial Team.
  • Manage team of Fellowship Program Managers with responsibility for geographic engagement in multiple fellowship programs across the US
  • Create the strategy for the development, promotion and content for fellowship programming including in-person, virtual, and regional/national events. This will also include programming at society meetings as needed.
  • Create metrics to evaluate the impact of programs and fellowship program engagement.
  • Develop processes to assess effectiveness, outcomes, and return on investment of programs via direct and indirect feedback.
  • Provide strategy for field communication to fellows leads in specified region(s) to ensure adoption of fellows learning curriculum, best practices, and transition to practice
  • Strategic implementation and assessment of the need for new fellows’ programs and modifications of existing fellows’ programs based on follow-up, customer satisfaction, utilization, and metrics.
  • Collaborate with professional education to design and assess training tools and guides provided to the field, create new tools for unmet needs, quarterly assessment for existing tools and need for content change/improvement.
  • Work with professional education to refine event facilitation process and train Abiomed hosts and physician faculty on hosting/facilitation best practices.
  • Ensure training meets key learning objectives for Fellows and is aligned with Marketing strategies and new product introductions.
  • Create mechanism to track fellows throughout educational journey and communicate and collaborate with Therapy Awareness Managers and Commercial Team regarding outgoing fellows information and transition to practice
  • Attend key training programs, symposia, and conferences related to areas of interest for Abiomed
