About The Position

The Associate Director, Facilities, Maintenance & Calibration is responsible for leading all aspects of building, grounds, utilities, and processing equipment maintenance operations. This includes ensuring equipment reliability, facility integrity, and compliance with preventive maintenance and calibration requirements to meet regulatory standards. The Associate Director, Facilities, Maintenance & Calibration provides critical day-to-day leadership in prioritizing key facilities and maintenance activities. Working closely with the facilities, maintenance, and calibration teams, this position ensures maximum equipment and system uptime while leveraging KPIs to drive continuous improvement and cost optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering leadership experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is required.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to build trust and execute with excellence.
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation communication skills and excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Compliance Wire, and Engineering systems (e.g., BMRAM).
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, develop effective solutions in a fast-paced environment and demonstrated ability to work independently while fostering strong collaboration across functional departments in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk regularly; occasional lifting up to 15 lbs. (no lifting over 44 lbs. without assistance). Frequent computer uses and document reading are required.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an annual repair and maintenance budget of approximately $6.5M.
  • Promote and manage CAPEX projects as needed to upgrade existing critical facility infrastructure.
  • Have oversight of process equipment system admins to ensure compliance with data integrity requirements.
  • Manage vendor service spend with inhouse PM, calibration, and break fix spend to meet monthly Repairs and Maintenance budget
  • Lead maintenance strategy for all production and support equipment, ensuring uptime and reliability.
  • Oversee calibration programs, preventative maintenance schedules and manage break/fix work requests and emergency repair response.
  • Ensure 24/7 operational coverage for facilities, maintenance, and calibration to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
