About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Associate is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, and functionality of the optical lab facility. This role performs general building maintenance and supports basic preventative maintenance and upkeep of production equipment to ensure minimal downtime and a safe, efficient work environment. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Lead, who provides daily work direction, task assignments, and supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of facilities or industrial maintenance experience preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general building systems preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient while maintaining professionalism always.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections of the building interior and exterior.
  • Complete general maintenance and repair tasks including plumbing, lighting, doors, walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Maintain HVAC systems through basic upkeep and coordination with vendors as needed.
  • Ensure work areas, common spaces, and production areas are clean, safe, and well maintained.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and leadership.
  • Monitor and maintain facility safety standards, including emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, and clear egress paths.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on optical lab equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assist with troubleshooting minor mechanical issues to minimize production interruptions.
  • Clean and maintain machines to ensure proper operation and longevity.
  • Report equipment concerns to management and coordinate service calls when necessary.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and documentation for equipment servicing.
  • Adhere to company policies, attendance, and safety rules, while maintaining confidentiality of proprietary and HIPAA-protected information.
  • Assist others as needed to meet deadlines and balance workloads, demonstrating a cooperative and positive attitude.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
