About The Position

Turner and Townsend are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Electrical Engineering with a strong focus on data center design and operations. This role will lead electrical engineering initiatives for mission-critical facilities, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in data center design or operations.
  • PE license strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in power systems, load calculations, and energy efficiency.
  • Familiarity with Tier standards (Uptime Institute) and data center best practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Large-scale data center projects (hyperscale or enterprise).
  • Knowledge of renewable energy integration and sustainability practices.
  • Experience with BIM and electrical modeling software.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee electrical engineering design for data center projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Develop and implement electrical infrastructure strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to best practices.
  • Lead design of power distribution systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and grounding systems.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and other relevant codes.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and IT teams for integrated solutions.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Review and approve electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Implement redundancy strategies (N+1, 2N) for critical systems.
  • Conduct failure mode analysis and develop contingency plans.
  • Ensure uptime and reliability targets are met or exceeded.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
