To advance Understood’s mission and measure our impact, we are hiring a Senior Analyst, reporting to the Associate Director of Analytics. This role will work closely with the product, marketing, and content teams to analyze data and turn it into clear and useful insights.. You will gather, clean, and analyze data with a focus on helping us deepen our understanding of user engagement and retention. You will be measuring the impact of key initiatives, designing and measuring experiments for new features, and assessing the potential value and impact of new opportunities. You are curious, passionate about data, and able to answer “the why” behind the numbers. You combine business knowledge with analytical techniques to generate insights, and you dig deep to uncover opportunities the team did not know existed, helping us focus on the areas with the greatest potential for impact. This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of three (3) days a week in our NYC office, with a focus on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, statistics, economics, operations research, computer science, or a related quantitative field preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience in growth/marketing analytics and data science
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, with the ability to manipulate large, complex datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python, predictive analytics, and machine learning.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and interpreting experiments
  • Analytical and curious thinker
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex modeling and statistical work into compelling, business-focused narratives.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and trends in data analysis and reporting

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with implementing enterprise BI tooling
  • Experience with chatbot technologies and frameworks, such as OpenAI, LangChain, and LangSmith

Responsibilities

  • Partner with marketing, product, and partnerships teams to define success metrics for campaigns and initiatives, ensuring analytics align with broader organizational objectives.
  • Design and evaluate experiments (e.g., A/B, multivariate, uplift modeling) to measure the impact of new features, campaigns, and programs.
  • Build, validate, and maintain predictive models, forecasts, and segmentations that drive stronger engagement, re-engagement, and retention.
  • Translate advanced analytical methods (e.g., regression, clustering, causal inference, attribution) into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build and analyze dashboards and reports that track acquisition, conversion, retention, and ROI across paid, organic, and lifecycle/CRM channels.
  • Partners with analytics engineers to turn analysis into scalable solutions
  • Proven experience in embracing emerging technologies, including AI, and adopting new analytical methods to continuously improve insights and decision-making.
  • Communicate findings with a clear narrative and recommendations for senior leadership.
